Our Vision:
To see every person grow into the full stature of Christ and be fully equipped for God’s Kingdom and mission.
Our Mission:
To equip the Church with faithful disciples of Jesus who:
Worship God and know Christ
Obey the Spirit and study the Scriptures
Understand God’s truth and love all people
Proclaim the gospel and create disciples
Build up the Church and serve in God’s Kingdom
Our Beliefs:
We believe in one God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant inspired Word of God and therefore holds authority in the life of every believer.
We believe that all humans are born sinful and in need of forgiveness from God.
We believe that through God’s Grace on a cross, forgiveness is available to all who seek it.
We believe that all who have been saved through grace are God’s hands and feet, and are commissioned to work for God’s Kingdom and mission.
Our Story:
Legacy Bible Institute is an idea that has been long in the making. Back in 1980, Richard and Margie Jankov found God opening their eyes to the spiritual needs of young people and the necessity for serious mentorship, Biblical training, and a Christian worldview. In 1997, God called them to move away from career and family in Phoenix, Arizona to start a nonprofit organization - Upward Bound Youth (UBY) - in the small city of Wooster, Ohio. UBY has been able to serve the church and the Wooster community by providing mentorship and leadership opportunities to young Christians and organizing faith-based children’s programs in the Wooster area.
Richard’s work as Chairman of the Domestic Actions and Projects (DAP) Committee of the ACC Foundation further allowed him and Margie to speak into young people’s lives by annually chaperoning the ACC Youth Choir tour. In 2011, a handful of young adults heard of this vision for a Bible institute and expressed serious interest in participating. With less than two months to put a comprehensive set of courses together, everything fell into place and the Legacy Bible Institute was officially formed as a new DAP program.
Since 2011, Legacy Bible has offered a full-time, one-year program for students to immerse themselves in the entirety of the Bible and deepen their spiritual roots before moving on to whatever vocation or calling is ahead of them.
